What I had to fix before this one felt right
I had to treat this one differently from the start because a split side seam cutout does not behave like a regular front design. The ruler, apple, and crayon had to read clearly around an opening, not just on a flat shirt. I kept checking how the shapes sat once the seam opened and the bow was added. Small shifts mattered here. If a piece looked balanced in the hoop but awkward on the side seam, I redrew it and stitched again.
The hardest part was getting the school tools to feel intentional at several sizes without crowding the cutout area. This set includes 5, 5.5, 6, 7, and 8 inch versions, so I could not assume one layout would scale cleanly and still hold its shape the same way.
I also tested it as a real outfit detail, because that is where this design lives. A side seam cutout needs room for the bow, room for the fabric to move, and enough stitch definition that the teacher theme still shows once the garment is worn. I included a PDF with directions and linked my side bow video because placement matters as much as the embroidery itself on this kind of project.
