The part I kept adjusting
The longest part to get right was the balance inside Lola's feathers. This design depends on the patterns reading clearly while still leaving enough open space for your fabric to show through, so I spent the most time on those feather sections. Hearts, little floral touches, and simple patchwork shapes had to feel distinct from each other without making the turkey look busy. That was the whole point.
I wanted her outline to hold the shape cleanly, but I also wanted the inside to stay warm and homey instead of stiff. So the work was in the contrast.
Lola has a farm kitchen kind of feel that fits towels, seasonal table linens, and other fall projects where you want a Thanksgiving design without filling every inch with dense stitching. The patterned areas are part of the embroidery file, and the fabric underneath becomes part of the finished look. That is what gives this turkey her patchwork effect, and it is also why fabric choice matters so much on this one.
