Built for the side of a shirt
This bow makes the most sense once you picture the finished shirt. I digitized it for the side of a sweatshirt or T-shirt, where a flat satin bow can look a little stiff and heavy. The plaid is stitched right into the design, so you get that Christmas gingham look without hunting for matching fabric. Then the edge changes everything. After stitching, you cut the bobbin thread from the back along the loose satin areas and fluff the fringe up around the bow.
It looks soft on purpose. That matters on a side bow, because this shape is supposed to feel tied on, not printed on.
I also put a seam under the fringe so it stays in place through washing, and this design is safe to wash. The split seam cutout helps the side bow shape read clearly once it is on a garment, especially in the larger sizes. You can choose from 4, 5, 5.5, 6, 6.5, and 7 inches depending on the shirt size and how bold you want the bow to look.
