What I had to test before this one was ready
Fringe has to be pretty, but it also has to stay put after the project is washed. That was the part I worked out before I listed this chicken. I added a seam under the fringe so the fluffy parts are held in place instead of pulling loose later. That one change matters. A fringed design can look finished in the hoop and still fail in use, so I tested for both the stitched look and the hold.
I also had to redraw the loose satin areas so they would open into fringe after cutting the bobbin threads on the back, but still read clearly as a flowered farm bird from the front.
This design is easy to stitch once the file is on your machine, but the file itself took careful planning. The large satin stitches need enough room to fluff up, while the chicken shape and floral details still need to stay readable at every included width from 4 to 5.5 inches. I kept the process simple on purpose. Stitch the design, turn the hoop over, cut the bobbin thread along those larger satin sections, then turn it back and brush up the fringe.
