If you are standing there with a plain sweatshirt and trying to decide if this bow will really show up, this is the kind of design I made it for. The patterned parts are stitched into the bow, but the background is left open so your fabric comes through and becomes part of the look. That makes the bow feel lighter on the shirt, and it gives you that patchwork effect without piecing little fabric sections first.
I also gave you a real size range here. You can stitch it at 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5, 6, 7, or 8 inches, so you can keep it smaller on a tee or go bigger on a sweatshirt side split.
This one is meant for placement that matters. A side bow has to look intentional, not dropped onto the garment as an afterthought, so I included a video tutorial link for making the side bow on a T-shirt or sweatshirt. If you already know your way around applique, that still helps with planning. If this is your first side split project, it gives you a starting point before you hoop anything.
