Getting the rope look to read clean
This font started with a very specific problem. I wanted the line to read like rope, but still act like a clean embroidery font at small sizes. A western look can get muddy fast when the turns are tight and the letters connect like handwriting, so I had to keep redrawing the curves until the line looked textured without turning lumpy.
The hardest part was the smallest end of the set. At 1.2 inches, every loop and slant matters.
I tested the script across the full size range from 1.2 to 3 inches because a line that looks good larger can close up when it shrinks. Capitals, lowercase letters, and numbers all needed the same visual weight so a mixed name would not look uneven. I also kept punctuation in the set, since small marks can disappear if they are not drawn carefully enough to stitch with the same character as the letters.
This is a full alphabet for western names, monograms, birthday stitching, and everyday shop projects. The BX file is included if you like typing names with embroidery software, and the standard machine formats are included too. I also include JPG thread color charts, so you can see the lettering plan before you start.
