Choose stabilizer for the fabric and construction

For wearable knits and projects where the anchor stitches need lasting support, cutaway stabilizer is usually the safest choice. Stable woven fabric may use a suitable tear-away when the individual design instructions allow it. In-the-hoop vinyl or freestanding projects can require a completely different setup.

Why support matters

When the bobbin thread is removed from the fringe column, the remaining anchor stitches must continue holding the design. Weak or torn-away support can let the fabric distort and make the fringe difficult to release cleanly.

Topping

Use water-soluble topping on towels, fleece, or other textured surfaces when the pile could swallow the stitching. Topping does not replace the stabilizer behind the fabric.

Can fringe be washed?

Many Artapli fringe designs are made for washable finished items, but always follow the design-specific tutorial and the fabric's care label. Secure all construction steps and remove only the intended bobbin thread before washing.

Gentle care routine

• Turn garments inside out.
• Use a gentle cycle and mild detergent.
• Avoid snagging the fringe on zippers or hook-and-loop fasteners.
• Air dry or use low heat when compatible with the garment and thread.
• After drying, separate and fluff the fringe gently with your fingers or a soft tool.

Do not apply a hot iron directly to the raised fringe. Test every fabric, stabilizer, and thread combination before making a saleable item.
