Giraffe Fringe Embroidery Tutorial

Hoop the item where the giraffe will be placed, then embroider the appliqué elements as usual:
1. Stitch the fabric placement seam. Stop the machine. Do not unhoop.
2. Lay the fabric inside the stitched shape. Use tape if needed to keep the fabric flat while stitching.
3. Stitch the fabric tack-down seam. Stop the machine, do not unhoop, and trim the appliqué shapes.

Fringe designs have rows of satin columns. These stitches are used to create the fringe.
Cutaway stabilizer ensures that the satin stitches and anchor stitches stay firmly in place.
If you use tear-away stabilizer, the stitches may shift, making it difficult to create the fringe properly.
After the design finishes embroidering, turn the embroidery to the back side. You will see rows of satin columns.

At one end of a satin row, cut the last bobbin stitch.

Using small sharp scissors, pinch the bobbin stitch from the middle of the row and pull it straight up from the satin column.
Remove the bobbin thread completely from the column.

Repeat this process for all fringed areas.
Turn the embroidery to the front side and fluff up the fringe using the tip of small scissors.
