Towel Hanging Hole Tutorial

Important: This project is made using both sides of the hoop. At certain steps you will remove the hoop from the machine, but do NOT unhoop your project. The pocket and backing are taped behind the hoop.

Step 1 – Prepare the Hoop
Hoop only tear-away stabilizer. Do not add fabric yet. Attach the hoop to the embroidery machine.

Step 2 – Mark Towel Placement
Embroider colour 1 directly onto the stabilizer. This will stitch a placement line showing where the towel should be positioned.

Stop the machine. Do NOT unhoop. Lay the towel inside the stitched placement line.

Use tape to secure the towel and keep it flat while stitching.

Step 3 – Towel Tack Down
The next step will stitch the towel tack-down seam. Stop the machine when finished. Do NOT unhoop.
Step 4 – White Base Fabric
Colour 3 stitches the white fabric placement line. Place the white fabric over the area.

Colour 4 stitches the white fabric tack-down seam. This is only the base layer, not the cat body.
Stop the machine. Do NOT unhoop and do NOT trim the white fabric yet. Continue with the next colours.
Step 5 – Cat Body Appliqué
Colours 4 and 5 stitch the cat body appliqué placement and tack-down seams.
Embroider the nose and ears.

Stop the machine. Do NOT unhoop. Trim only the cat body fabric carefully.
Continue embroidering colour 8.
Step 6 – Turn the Hoop
Remove the hoop from the machine, but do NOT unhoop the project. This entire in-the-hoop project is completed in one hooping.
Turn the hoop over to the back side.

Step 7 – Attach Lining
Attach the lining or facing fabric to the back of the hoop.

Secure it with tape to keep it flat.

The next step will stitch the lining tack-down seam.
Step 8 – Trim White Fabric
Stop the machine. Do NOT unhoop. Trim the white fabric on the front side.

Also, trim the white fabric on the back side of the hoop.

Step 9 – Final Stitching
Attach the hoop back to the machine and continue the design.
The final step will stitch the satin outline around the design.

Step 10 – Finishing
When the design is finished, remove all tape.
Unhoop the project and gently tear away the excess stabiliser.
