Towel Hanging Hole

At some point, you may need to remove the project from the machine, but do not take it out of the hoop! The backing will be is secured with tape behind the hoop.

Step 1. Hoop a piece of medium-weight tear-away stabilizer and attach it to the machine.

Embroider the placement line directly onto the stabilizer.

Stop the machine. Do not unhoop.

Step 2. Align the edge of the towel along the placement line.

Using tape or pins to keep the towel flat and in place while stitching is really helpful here.

Step 3. Stitch an outline.

Step 4. Place a piece of tear-away stabilizer on top of the towel - this will make trimming the fabric much easier later.

Then place your appliqué fabric flat on top. Again, tape or pins will help prevent it from shifting while you stitch.

Note: The appliqué fabric should be medium weight or heavier for best results.

Step 5. Stitch the decorative design.

Remove the hoop from the machine, but keep the project hooped, and don't trim any fabric just yet!

This entire in-the-hoop project is completed in a single hooping.

Flip the hoop over to see the reverse side.

Attach the lining with the right side facing up. Secure it in place with tape.

Step 6. Stitch the lining tack down seam.

Step 7. Trim away the excess appliqué fabric from the front of the hoop.

Also carefully remove the extra piece of tear-away stabilizer that was added in Step 4.

How it looks in progress:

Also trim the excess appliqué fabric from the reverse side of the hoop.

How it looks in progress:

Reattach the hoop to the machine and finish stitching the design. The satin stitch border will be the final step.

Once the design is complete, remove all tape and pins, unhoop your project, and gently tear away the excess stabilizer.
