Stitching the Bag

Hoop tear-away stabilizer. Attach the hoop to the embroidery machine.

Stitch the zipper placement line directly onto the stabilizer.

Stop the machine but do NOT unhoop the project.

Center the zipper over the stitched placement line.

Secure the zipper with tape so it stays flat while stitching.

Position the zipper pull about 1/2 inch outside the bag outline.

Stitch the zipper tack-down seam.

Place the small piece of the main fabric right-side down along the upper seam line.

Secure with tape and stitch the upper seam.

Stop the machine and flip the fabric piece upward so the right side is visible.

Repeat the process with the large piece of main fabric below the zipper.

Secure with tape or pins and stitch the bottom seam.

Stop the machine and flip the fabric piece downward.

Stitch the full bag outline next.

Stitch the decorative embroidery elements (color changes 6–9).

Adding the Lining

Remove the hoop from the machine but do NOT unhoop the project.

Turn the hoop over to see the back side of the project.

Place the lining fabric above the zipper right side down and align with the seam line, so the edge lines up with the upper stitch and covers it approx. ½ inch.

Stitch the upper lining seam.

Repeat the same process with the lining fabric below the zipper.

Secure the lining with tape or pins so it stays flat while stitching.

Important!

NB! Open the zipper halfway before continuing.
Otherwise the bag cannot be turned right side out.

Photo below is an example (I forgot to take an exact photo)

Optional: Add a folded ribbon tab and tape it in place.

Place the large main fabric piece inside the bag outline with extra fabric around the edges and stitch the bottom seam.

Turn the hoop to the back side and place the lining fabric inside the outline.

Stitch the final outline seam around the bag.

Finishing

Remove the hoop from the machine, unhoop the project, and tear away the stabilizer. Trim the bag leaving a small seam allowance.

Clip corners carefully without cutting the stitches.

Turn the bag right side out through the opening.

Close the opening with a sewing machine or hand stitches.

Turn the bag right side out through the zipper opening to finish.
