For the little spot that needs Santa
If you are putting together holiday shirts, gift bags, or a small batch of Christmas items, this Santa fits the places that are always a little too tight for a fuller design. I made it in 2, 2.5, 3, and 3.5 inch sizes, so you can add a Santa face where a chest corner, small pocket area, or narrow towel end needs something cheerful without taking over the whole project.
The beard is the whole point here. It stitches like a regular design first, with large satin stitches left loose on purpose. Then you turn the hoop over, cut the bobbin thread along those satin areas, turn it back, and fluff the beard out with your fingers.
I also put a seam under the fringe so it stays in place through washing, which matters for anything that is going to be used all season and then packed away until next year. This one is marked safe to wash. I include the directions in a PDF, and if you want to see the finish happen before you try it, there is a short video tutorial linked for this exact design.
