shirt front idea

For the shirt you want done before Halloween

If you are standing at your machine with a plain kids shirt and not much time, this is the kind of project I would reach for. The bats are already part of the pocket, so you are not trying to place a separate design and then guess where a pocket should sit after. You stitch the bats first, fold your pocket fabric in half, and line the folded edge up with the top pocket placement line. That order matters. It keeps the project feeling simple.

I sized this for a 5x7 hoop and included two project heights, 6 1/3 inches and 7 inches. You will need a piece of pocket fabric about 5 by 10 inches.

This is a real pocket project, done in the hoop, and it gives a kids outfit that little Halloween touch without covering the whole shirt front. I include a PDF with a lot of step images from another pocket project because the method is the same here, and it is easy to follow. You also get JPG thread color charts. One buyer told me the bats stitched out well even without making the pocket, which is useful to know if you are already thinking about testing the design first on scrap fabric.
