What I had to fix before these letters felt right
These pumpkin letters only work if the lace areas stay open and clean without turning ragged at the edge. That meant I could not draw a pretty shape once and call it done. I had to keep adjusting how the lace pattern met the outer border, because the border is part of the look here. The background fabric needs to show through clearly, and the edge still has to read as a pumpkin letter instead of a loose floral frame.
The tricky part was balance. Too much lace and the letter lost its shape. Too little and the whole point was gone.
I also had to think through the size jump from 2.5 inches up to 5 inches. A lace design does not scale nicely by itself, so the smaller letters need different attention than the larger ones if you want the openings, curves, and border to stay clear. I kept the same idea across all five sizes, but this kind of set only works when each size stitches like it belongs there, not like it was simply stretched on a screen.
