Why these do not look like every other Halloween earring file
A lot of Halloween earring files blur together after a while. I wanted this one to feel playful right away, with the little ghost shape dressed for fall in a cowboy hat and boots instead of leaning on the same plain spooky look you see over and over. That mix gives it a clear point of view. It reads as Halloween, but it also fits western markets, fall fairs, and everyday autumn outfits.
It is also made as freestanding lace, so you stitch the design directly on non-woven water-soluble stabilizer and skip fabric completely. That matters on earrings. The finished pair stays light on the ear, and the lace structure keeps the shape clean after rinsing and drying flat.
I kept the project simple to make at the machine. Hoop the stabilizer only, stitch the design, unhoop, trim the extra stabilizer, rinse away the rest, and let it dry flat before adding your earring findings. That straightforward build is a big part of why this kind of design gets used again and again, especially when you want small seasonal pieces that still feel finished.

This design is made as freestanding lace and stitches directly onto a non-woven water-soluble stabilizer. I recommend a wash-away stabilizer that looks like fabric, not a film.
The file names are usually marked in millimeters. That is a common way embroidery sizes are labeled when the files are prepared.
Rayon thread is fine to use on this design. Polyester is usually the more durable choice, especially for earrings that may get handled often.
