The patch lines took the longest
The part that slowed me down on this teddy was not the bear outline. It was the patchwork inside him. Each section had to read like a pieced teddy, but the whole shape still needed to stay soft and simple once it was stitched on real fabric. I kept adjusting those inner dividing lines so they looked balanced at the smaller sizes and did not make the bear feel stiff.
That matters even more in a raggedy edge applique. You want the little frayed edges to add sweetness, not clutter.
I also wanted this design to work for a wide range of baby and kids projects, so I made it in sizes from 4 inches up to 8 inches. That gives you room for a small shirt front, a blanket corner, or a larger panel without changing the look of the bear.
