Made for the soft spot on a baby quilt
I think of this set on the kind of project you touch before you even look closely at it. A baby quilt corner, a small pillow, a shirt for a farm birthday, a pocket on overalls. The sheep are small, and that matters. At 2 inches, 3 inches, and 3.5 inches, they fit the places where a bigger animal would feel heavy or crowded.
The fur is the whole point here. I digitized these sheep with loose satin stitches that get opened from the back after stitching, then fluffed on the front so the body turns soft and shaggy. There is a seam under that fringe to keep it in place through washing. That makes the texture playful, but still practical.
This is an easy fringed design to make. Stitch it as usual, turn the hoop over, cut the bobbin thread along the large satin stitches, then turn it back and fluff the fringe around.
You get three separate single sheep, so you can use one by itself or group them on the same project. I like that flexibility for gifts and small shop sewing. One lamb on a bib is enough. Three across a quilt block tells more of a story. Both reviews I have on this set point to finished projects that felt worth the extra few minutes, especially on baby items.
