Soft fur without a fussy finish
A fluffy Halloween cat can look cute in the artwork and then turn into a headache at the machine if the fur will not stay put. I built this one with a special seam under the fringe so the soft fur effect is held in place, even through washing. That matters on real projects like sweatshirts and kids items, where the design needs to keep looking like a cat and not a worn patch of loose threads.
The stitching itself is simple. You embroider the cat as usual, then turn the hoop over, cut the bobbin thread along the large satin stitches, turn it back, and fluff the fringe around.
I also included the 4 inch size in two parts so it fits the hoop better, which solves a very practical problem for stitchers who want the smaller version but do not want to fight their hoop limits. The full set gives you 4, 5, 5.5, and 6 inch sizes, so you can put this witch hat cat on anything from a smaller shirt front to a roomier sweatshirt. A PDF with directions is included, and the same fringe method is shown in my short tutorial video.
