A spider earring with real fluff
I made this pair for stitchers who want a Halloween earring that looks soft and fuzzy, not flat. The base is freestanding lace, so the shape stays clear and light, and then the fringe changes the whole feel of it. That mix matters. A lot of spider earrings stitch up as a simple outline or filled shape, but this one has movement around the edges that reads like a little fluffy body once you rinse and dry it.
The fringe is built right into the design, so you do not need extra materials beyond your water-soluble stabilizer and thread. After stitching, you turn the hoop over, cut the bobbin thread along the large satin stitches, then turn it back and fluff the fringe around.
It fits a 4x4 hoop and finishes at about 1.6 inches, which keeps it small enough for earrings without losing the spider shape. I also kept the process simple: hoop stabilizer only, stitch directly on it, trim, rinse, and dry. If you already enjoy freestanding lace, this gives you a different finish than plain lace alone. If you are new to fringe, the technique is the same one I use on my other fringed items, and the short video helps you see the last step clearly.
