A spooky flamingo with real texture
A lot of Halloween animal designs lean on the same flat look, but this one gets its personality from the fringe. The flamingo body is made to fluff up after stitching, so it does not sit there like a smooth filled shape. That soft chenille texture changes the whole feel of the bird. Add the witch hat on top, and the design reads spooky and playful at the same time without needing extra parts.
I also built in a seam under the fringe so it stays in place through the wash. That matters with this kind of design. The fringe is meant to be touched, worn, and washed, especially on girl outfits, and I did not want the fluffy finish to feel delicate once the stitching was done.
The process is simple once you know what to do. Stitch the design normally first. The larger satin stitches are supposed to stay loose. Then turn the hoop over, cut the bobbin thread along those long satin areas, turn it back, and fluff the fringe around. That one step is what gives the flamingo its soft raised body instead of a standard flat embroidery finish.
