Summer Beach Rubber Duck Earrings ITH Design
This is an in-the-hoop freestanding lace earring design for a summer rubber duck wearing sunglasses. It uses freestanding lace and fringe, fits a 4x4 hoop, finishes at about 1.7 inches, and includes machine files, thread charts, JPGs, and a PDF with directions.

Why these earrings do not look flat
A lot of earring files rely on shape alone, but this one gets its personality from the mix of two techniques in one tiny project. I built the duck as freestanding lace, then added fringe so the finished pair has soft texture around the shape instead of a hard, flat edge. The sunglasses give it a clear summer look right away, and the finished size stays small enough for actual earrings at about 1.7 inches.
The fringe is the part that changes the look most. After stitching, you turn the hoop over, cut the bobbin thread along the large satin stitches on the back, then fluff the fringe on the front.
This is still a simple in-the-hoop project because you hoop only wash-away stabilizer and stitch the design directly onto it, but it is not the same kind of quick file as plain lace earrings. I recommend a non-woven water-soluble stabilizer that looks like fabric, not film. Once the stitching is done, you trim the excess stabilizer, rinse away the rest, and let the earrings dry completely.
