Stitch the placement line, place a piece of appliqué fabric over it, then stitch the tack-down line. Trim the excess fabric close to the seam, and finish with the cover stitches.

I’m usually a big fan of Artapli designs, however the directions on this design weren’t clear. The ears and muzzle I had to back my machine up to get the material tacked down. There was no placement stitch. The placement stitches for the ears and horn are larger than needed and it’s difficult to align them correctly.
