Stitch the placement line, place a piece of appliqué fabric over it, then stitch the tack-down line. Trim the excess fabric close to the seam, and finish with the cover stitches.

This design did not stitch consistently. The satin stitch around the edges did not cover the fabric piece of the applique. The white stitches on the tiger's chest were too long. When my grandson wore the shirt some of the stitches came loose. I would not do this design again. It took three tries to get it right.
