Instructions - 3D dimensional Butterfly

The folder includes 2 file types:

  1. Butterfly – this file contains the butterfly wings and should be stitched first on water-soluble stabilizer.
  2. Butterfly Body – this file stitches the butterfly body and attaches the butterfly wings to your item.

Important: This adorable design is stitched on non-woven water-soluble stabilizer. I recommend using Vilene water-soluble wash-away stabilizer. It has a fabric-like texture rather than a film texture. I also recommend hooping two layers of stabilizer for the best results.

Step 1

Stitch File Part1 – Butterfly Wings.

After stitching, rinse away the stabilizer and allow the wings to dry completely.

Hoop the item where you would like to place the butterfly, and stitch the butterfly placement line.

Step 2

Place the butterfly wings directly inside the stitched placement shape.

It is helpful to use tape to keep the wings flat and secure while stitching.

Step 3

Complete the design stitching. The butterfly body will stitch last and secure the wings in place.

Congratulations! Your 3D butterfly is finished.
