How to Make a 3D Bow

Supplies:
• Felt fabric
• Scrap fabrics for appliqué (white, blue, and red)
• Needle
• Thread
• Scissors
• Tear-away stabilizer
This tutorial includes:
1. Embroidering
2. Assembly
EMBROIDERING
Hoop tear-away stabilizer together with felt fabric. I used my largest hoop (8x12 inches / 20x30 cm) to stitch all 5 bows at once. However, you will receive all files separately.
If you would like to embroider multiple bows in one hooping, you will need embroidery software to arrange the sewing sequence.

APPLIQUE PROCESS
1. The first seam will be the bow appliqué placement line. Stop the machine. Do not unhoop your project. Place the appliqué fabric inside the stitched outline and continue.
2. The next seam will be the appliqué tack-down seam. Stop the machine. Do not unhoop. Trim the excess appliqué fabric.
Some bows include two appliqué colors. For those, repeat the steps for the second fabric: fabric placement, tack-down seam, stop machine, and trim excess fabric.
After that, the machine will stitch stars, stripes, and other decorative elements.
ASSEMBLY
Unhoop the project and cut out all bow pieces.

Fold the main bow shape in half.

Thread your needle, make a few stitches to secure the fold, and tie it off.

All sewing is done using the same thread: first secure the folded bow, then stitch through the center again to shape it, and then attach the center ribbon.

Do NOT cut the thread, as you will need it for the next steps.
Take the second bow piece and attach it using a hand stitch.

Use the same thread to take a few stitches and secure it. Do NOT cut the thread again, as you will need it to attach the center piece.

Wrap the center piece around the bow and sew a few stitches to secure it in place. Tie off the thread securely. You may continue using this thread to attach the finished bow to your project.

You are done!
