Machine embroidery becomes much easier once you know which questions to ask before transferring a design to your machine. This guide answers the questions Artapli customers ask most and links to deeper instructions where needed.

1. Can I resize an embroidery design?

Usually only within a limited range. A stitch file is not the same as a scalable image: enlarging or shrinking it changes stitch length, spacing, density, underlay, and pull compensation. Use a provided size whenever possible. If you must resize, use embroidery software that can recalculate stitches and test the result. Read the complete resizing guide.

2. Does this work in Embrilliance?

Artapli BX fonts work in the Embrilliance Platform, including free Express mode for typing and saving BX lettering. Regular stitch files can also be opened in compatible Embrilliance products. See the Embrilliance software guide.

3. Do I need a multi-needle machine?

No. Most Artapli designs can be stitched on a single-needle home embroidery machine if your machine supports the included format and the design fits its embroidery area. A multi-needle machine mainly automates thread changes and improves production speed.

4. Why will my machine not read the file?

The most common causes are an unsupported format, a design larger than the machine's embroidery field, a file still inside a ZIP, incorrect USB folder placement, or limits on stitches or colors. Use the troubleshooting checklist linked below before assuming the file is damaged.

5. Which file format does my machine need?

The machine brand is a useful starting point, but the exact model manual is the authority. Brother commonly uses PES, Janome JEF, Bernina EXP, Husqvarna Viking/Pfaff VP3, and many commercial machines DST. See the embroidery file format guide.

6. Can I convert a design to another format?

Often yes, but conversion changes the container more reliably than it changes the underlying stitch plan. It cannot add missing object data, repair bad digitizing, or make an oversized design fit your machine.

7. Where is the BX file?

BX is normally included only with products sold as keyboard-ready embroidery fonts. Download the BX ZIP, fully extract it, and look for files ending in .bx. Ordinary embroidery designs do not need a BX file.

8. Can I sell items I make with an Artapli design?

Yes, physical finished items may be sold under the Artapli license. You may not resell, share, trade, or distribute the digital files or turn them into another downloadable design product.

9. Why is a 4-inch file too large for my 4×4 hoop?

“4×4” is a hoop class, not always four full usable inches in both directions. A common sewing field is approximately 100 × 100 mm, while four inches equals 101.6 mm. Choose the file labeled for the actual sewing field shown in your machine manual.

10. What is a BX file?

A BX file is an installer for the Embrilliance Platform. For fonts, it maps pre-digitized letters to the keyboard so you can type words instead of placing individual letter files. It is not a machine stitch format and cannot be loaded directly into an embroidery machine.
