Artapli Studio Help
Make SVG cut lines from an embroidery file: the SVG creator
What's new, and why you'll love it
The SVG creator turns the stitches of an applique design into SVG cut lines for your cutting machine. It's now in the same easy look as the other quick tools: three steps, a ? on 20 controls, a free sample to try, and a message that tells you the size to check before you cut. New: drop a whole font ZIP and pick the letters, and make a keychain or backing outline with one click.

Short answer: open the SVG creator (Apps → SVG creator), add your embroidery file or a font ZIP, tick the fabric step you want to cut, and download the SVG. For a keychain or a backing, choose All outline.
How to use it
1. Add your file
Go to artapli.shop/pages/svg-creator. Click choose files, drop a file or a font ZIP, or press try with a free design.

It reads PES, DST, VP3, XXX, JEF, EXP and HUS files and ZIPs, up to 20 MB per upload.
2. Choose a design
Every file appears as a thumbnail. Click one to open it; use find a letter or file in a font, or Select visible to take several at once.

3. Pick the fabric step
Under Select the fabric steps below, tick the step that places the applique fabric. Its cut line appears in the preview.

border, smooth and holes fine-tune the line: a little border, gentler curves, or small holes removed or filled.
4. For a keychain or backing: All outline
All outline draws one line around the whole design, the shape you cut from felt or vinyl for a keychain or a backing.

5. Download
Download layers · ZIP gives one SVG per fabric step; in outline mode you get the outline SVG. Download all · ZIP takes every selected design.

Good to know
- SVG files use millimeters. Check the size in your cutting software before you cut, and do a test on paper first.
- Bought an applique font from Artapli? You can also prepare cut files right in your Library, and a typed name in Lettering: see Lettering.
Questions people ask
Can I make an SVG for my Cricut from a PES file?
Yes. Drop the PES into the free SVG Converter (Apps → SVG Converter). You get one cut SVG per color step, at the design's real size.
Which file is the appliqué fabric shape?
Usually the placement line, the first step of each fabric piece. The design's instructions list the steps in order.
Why are there two cards with the same color and the same shape?
In appliqué, the placement line and the tack-down are often sewn in the same thread. Both make a card. Either one gives you the fabric shape.
Will the SVG be the right size?
The file is saved at the design's real size in millimeters. Check the size in Design Space or Silhouette Studio against the converter's numbers before cutting.
Why isn't the middle of my "O" cut out?
The converter cuts the outer edge of each step only. Inside holes are not cut.
Can I convert a whole ZIP?
Yes. The tool picks one format (PES first) and converts every file of it. Use Download All Cut SVGs to get them all in one ZIP.
Does it work with BX files?
No. Use the PES, DST or other machine file from the same package.
Can I use designs I bought from other shops?
Yes, if you own them. Your designer's license still decides what you may do with the files and the SVGs.
