DST Optimizer: automatic thread cuts for long jumps
What's new, and why you'll love it
Long jump stitches leave threads across your design that you have to snip by hand. The DST Optimizer adds automatic thread cuts to those long jumps in a DST file, so your machine trims them for you. It now has the same clear look as the other quick tools, with a ? on every option, icons and five languages.

Short answer: sign in to your Artapli shop account, open DST Optimizer (Apps → DST Optimizer), upload your DST file, and download the optimized file with automatic cuts.
How to use it
1. Sign in
The DST Optimizer is for signed-in customers. Open artapli.shop/pages/dst-optimizer and use Log in; after signing in you come back to the tool.

2. Upload your DST file
Add the DST file you want to improve. The tool finds the long jumps between parts of the design.
3. Download the optimized file
Download the new DST. Long jumps now end with a thread cut, so there's less to snip after stitching.
Good to know
- It works with DST files. For other formats, see Which embroidery format does my machine use?
- Your original file is not changed; you download a new copy. Upload only files you own or have permission to use.
- Stitch a test first: machines handle trims differently.
Questions people ask
Why does my DST leave long threads between letters?
The file moves the needle from one letter to the next with a jump. If the machine doesn't trim before that jump, the thread is carried across and you snip it by hand. DST Optimizer adds a trim before each long jump.
Does it work with PES, JEF or VP3 files?
No, only DST. Home machines that use those formats usually trim jumps based on their own settings; check the jump/trim setting in your manual.
Which threshold should I use?
Start with 9 mm. Lower it if threads are still left, raise it if the machine trims too often.
TRIM, COLOR CHANGE or STOP?
TRIM lets the machine cut on its own, without stopping. COLOR CHANGE and STOP pause the machine so you cut by hand, then press start.
Do I need an account?
Yes. Sign in to your artapli.shop account. The tool itself is free.
Will it change my original file?
No. You download a new DST; your original stays as it was. Always test-stitch the new one on scrap fabric.
Can I do a whole folder at once?
Yes. Choose Bulk / ZIP, add the DST files or one ZIP, and download them all as a ZIP with the same folders.
Is it in my Library too?
Not yet. The DST optimizer tab in the Library says coming soon; use this page for now.
