General Instructions Overview

Here is a quick summary of how to make these two-sided felt projects:

  1. Hoop your stabilizer and the first piece of felt, which will be the front of the game tiles.
  2. Embroider all the decorative elements.
  3. Remove the hoop from the machine (do not unhoop) and apply the backing fabric behind your hoop, securing it with tape.
  4. Stitch the final step, which is a decorative stitch that secures the two layers together.

Stitching Instructions

Hoop a tear-away stabilizer with a piece of felt. Attach the hoop to the machine and stitch the entire design until you reach the last step (the final outline).

All the animal designs for the memory game embroidered onto a single piece of felt in the hoop.

It is helpful to use tape to ensure the fabric stays flat while stitching.

Before the final step, take the hoop out of the machine, but do not unhoop your project.

Attach the lining/facing fabric to the back of the hoop.

A piece of backing felt placed over the back of the hoop.

Please ensure there is plenty of excess fabric around the perimeter. I am securing the lining with tape or pins.

The backing felt taped securely in place on the back of the hoop.

Return the hoop to the machine and stitch the final outline seams, which are the boxes around each tile. This will tack down the lining.

The final outline stitches completed, creating the individual game tiles.

Unhoop the project and carefully cut out the individual game tiles along the stitched lines.

The finished memory game tiles cut out and ready to play.
