In-The-Hoop - Towel Hanging Holes
In-The-Hoop Towel Hanging Holes (Quick Guide)
This guide walks you through a simple in-the-hoop process for creating towel-hanging holes. Please follow the steps carefully and do not unhoop your project at any point unless instructed.
NOTE: You may need to take the hoop out of the machine, but please do not unhoop your project! The pocket and the backing are taped behind the hoop.
Stitching Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Hoop
Hoop two pieces of tear-away stabilizer together and attach the hoop to the machine.
Embroider the placement outline directly onto the stabilizer.
Step 2: Attach and Appliqué the Towel
Stop the machine, but do not unhoop. Lay your towel right inside the stitched shape.
It is helpful to use tape to make sure the towel stays flat while stitching.
The towel tack-down seam will be next. After it stitches, stop the machine, do not unhoop, and carefully cut the fabric from the center of the design.
Next, continue the design as you would with a typical appliqué. A placement seam will stitch. Stop the machine, do not unhoop, and lay your appliqué fabric right inside the shape. An outline will then stitch to fix the fabric in place.
Step 3: Add the Backing
Take the hoop out of the machine, but do not unhoop it. The entire project is done in a single hooping.
Turn the hoop around and attach the lining/facing fabric to the back.
Secure the lining with tape. The lining tack-down seam will be next.
Step 4: Trim and Finish
Stop the machine, but do not unhoop. Now, trim the excess white appliqué fabric from the front.
Also, trim the white fabric from behind your hoop.
Attach the hoop back to the machine and continue with the design. The final satin stitch outline will be the last step.
When the design is finished, remove the tape, unhoop the project, and gently tear away the excess stabilizer.
