How To Make

Llama Fringed designs

Fringed Embroidery Technique

This design is suitable for any kind of fabric; the example below uses a medium-weight cotton.

Step 1: Stitch the Design

First, complete the embroidery design as you normally would. The fringe designs have rows of long satin columns—these are the stitches you will work with to create the fringe.

Step 2: Cut the Bobbin Threads

When the embroidery is complete, you can unhoop the project. Turn the project over to the back side.

Carefully cut the bobbin stitches that run along the center of the satin columns.

Step 3: Fluff the Fringe

Turn the embroidery back to the front side and use the point of small scissors to gently fluff the fringe, giving it a full, textured look.
