Lamb head 3D
Dimensional Lamb Hooded Towel Topper
These are the general instructions for creating dimensional designs for hooded towels in this theme.
Included Files
The project folder includes three files for each size:
- Ears_3d
- Lamb_head
- Lamb_head_ZIG-ZAG (a lighter outline version)
Embroidering the 3D Ears
Hoop a tear-away stabilizer with a medium-weight cotton fabric that has been folded in half with the right sides together. Sew the outline stitch.
When the design has finished, unhoop your project.
Gently tear away the excess stabilizer and cut out the ear shapes.
Trim and clip the seam allowances, especially on the curved edges, to reduce bulk. Be careful not to cut the seam!
Turn the ears right side out. This may require some patience and skill.
Embroidering the Lamb Head on the Towel
Load the second file, which contains the lamb's head.
First, stitch the lamb outline (Color 1) directly onto a hooped tear-away stabilizer. Then, place the towel right inside the shape. It is helpful to use tape or pins to make sure it stays flat while stitching.
Navigate back to Color 1 on your machine and sew the lamb outline again to tack down the towel.
Next, stitch the placement seam for the lamb's face appliqué (Color 2).
Now it is time to use your prepared ears. Stitch Color 3, which is the ear placement guideline. Lay the ears right inside the shape.
Secure the ears with tape or pins.
Stitch the ear tack-down seam (Color 4).
Next, create the lamb's hair appliqué using Colors 5 and 6 (placement and tack-down).
Trim the appliqué fabric and complete the rest of the design (Colors 7-11).
Congratulations! You are done!
