Pumpkin Memory Game ITH Tutorial

A finished, embroidered pumpkin memory game made from felt, with various jack-o'-lantern faces.

Important Note

You may need to pause the machine and take the hoop out during this project, but please do not unhoop your work! The backing is taped behind the hoop.

File and Hooping Guide

For 4x4 Hoop (8 hoopings required)

Stitch the following designs two times each:

  • Pumkins_memory_game_4x4_part1_half

Stitch the following design only once:

  • Pumkins_memory_game_4x4_part4_pairs

For 6x10 Hoop (2 hoopings required)

Stitch the following design two times:

Stitching Instructions

Step 1: Embroider the Fronts

Hoop a piece of felt fabric with a layer of tear-away stabilizer. Attach the hoop to the machine.

Embroider the pumpkin faces and their outlines.

Step 2: Add the Backing

Before the final step, take the hoop out of the machine, but do not unhoop your project.

Turn the hoop over to see the back side of the project.

Attach the lining/facing fabric to the back of the hoop.

A piece of backing felt placed over the back of the hoop.

Please ensure there is plenty of excess fabric around the perimeter. I am securing the lining with tape or pins.

Step 3: Finish the Tiles

Return the hoop to the machine and sew the final outline seams, which will tack down the appliqué fabric and the lining together.

Unhoop the project and carefully cut out the individual game tiles along the stitched lines.

The finished memory game tiles cut out and ready to play.
