Ginger Stocking felt project
Easy In-The-Hoop Gingerbread Stocking
Important Note
You may need to take the hoop out of the machine during this project, but please do not unhoop your work! The backing is taped behind the hoop.
Stitching Instructions
-
Step 1: Prepare the Hoop
Hoop a piece of tear-away stabilizer. Stitch the first color stop, the dieline, directly onto the stabilizer. This step is optional but helpful for fabric placement.
-
Step 2: Stitch the Front
Place a piece of felt over the dieline and stitch the outline and all decorative elements.
-
Step 3: Prepare the Backing
Take the hoop out of the machine, but do not unhoop it. The entire in-the-hoop project is completed in a single hooping.
Turn the hoop over to the back side.
-
Step 4: Add the Hanging Loop
Take a piece of ribbon, fold it in half to create a loop.
Tape it in the upper right corner on the back of the hoop.
-
Step 5: Attach the Lining
Next, attach the lining or facing fabric to the back of the hoop, covering the entire design.
Please ensure there is plenty of excess fabric around the perimeter. I am securing the lining with tape.
You can also pin the lining in place.
-
Step 6: Final Stitch and Finishing
Return the hoop to the machine. The final bean stitch outline for the pocket will be stitched next.
When the design has finished, remove the tape, unhoop the project, gently tear away the excess stabilizer, and cut out the stocking shape.
